Financial Advice in Highlands Built for the Long Run

We handle financial planning, investment management, retirement planning and legacy planning for individuals, couples, families and business owners. Before you pick anything, we put today's cost beside what it costs over the years. We sit down with clients from Highlands, Atlantic Highlands and Red Bank in person, on a call or over video.

A Local Advisor Who Thinks Long-Term

We are a small financial advisory practice based in Highlands. We work with people who want straight talk about money and a plan that still holds up years from now.

Our habit is simple. Before anyone buys a fund, opens an account or takes out a policy, we look at the full cost over its life, not just the first year. A cheaper option today is not always the better deal by retirement, and a pricier one is not always worth it. We show you the difference and let you choose.

Services for Clients and Families

We hold Series 66 and SIE licenses along with a license to sell life insurance, so investments and coverage can be weighed in one sitting. The work spans wealth management, financial advising, financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, legacy planning, tax management and life insurance consulting. A client may come in asking about one thing, such as a retirement date, and soon see how it ties to taxes, coverage and the portfolio. We look at the whole picture so a move in one area does not undercut another.

    Wealth Management

Investments, taxes, insurance and legacy handled together, with every choice judged on what it costs to start, to keep and over the years.

    Financial Advising

One-on-one advice on a specific money decision, such as a pension option, a lump sum or a job change, with the long-term tradeoffs laid out in plain terms.

  • Financial Planning

A written financial plan that lines up your income, savings, debt and goals, and checks each choice against what it costs over the long term.

  • Investment Management

We build and look after portfolios by weighing what each holding costs to own over the years, not just what it might earn this year.

  • Retirement Planning

We map out when to retire, where your income will come from, and how to make your savings last as long as you do.

  • Legacy Planning

We line up your accounts, beneficiaries and gifting plans with your will so what you leave goes where you meant it to, with fewer delays and less tax.

  • Tax Management

We look at where your money sits and when you draw on it, so fewer of your dollars go to taxes over the long run.

  • Life Insurance Consulting

We compare term and permanent life insurance by total cost over the years, review policies you already own, and size coverage to what your family really needs.

How We Work With Clients

Something that looks like a good deal this year can turn costly over two decades. We show you both figures before you choose.

Investments and insurance in one review

We carry the Series 66 and SIE licenses and are licensed to sell life insurance. You see an investment account and a policy compared on the same page, without two separate salespeople pulling you in two directions.

Total cost, not just the first bill

Fees, taxes and premiums grow quietly over the years. We show what an account or product costs across its whole life, so a low entry price does not mask an expensive long run.

Straight answers

When something you own is doing its job, we tell you to leave it alone. When a change makes sense, we walk through the reasons in everyday words and show the numbers.

Regular reviews

A new job, a baby, a business sale or an approaching retirement all change the picture. We sit down on a set schedule and adjust the plan as your life moves.

Your choice of meeting

Sit down with us at the office, over the phone or on a video call. Many clients use the office for the first visit and switch to remote after that.

What Shapes the Cost of Working With Us

The cost follows the amount of work. A simple situation with light ongoing help costs less than a complex one we track all year. We walk through how we are paid at the first meeting, before you agree to anything.

Before any work begins, we explain how we are compensated and what you would pay, and we give it to you in writing to read on your own time.

Number of accounts and income sources
A single retirement account takes less time than a mix of accounts, a pension, rental income and a business. Each added piece needs planning and tracking.
Plan only, or plan plus management
A written financial plan that you carry out on your own takes a set amount of work. Having us run the portfolio and sit down with you through the year adds ongoing hours, so that costs more.
Owning a business
Business owners bring added questions, like a retirement plan for employees, a succession plan and how to draw money from the company. That takes more planning hours.
Tax timing
Selling a big holding, starting required withdrawals or converting an account all depend on careful timing. More tax work means more time.
Coverage questions
Looking over current policies, weighing term against permanent coverage or setting up coverage between business partners each widen the scope.

How It Goes From First Call to a Working Plan

Five plain steps. You decide how fast we move.

  1. 1

    The introductory meeting

You explain your situation and the goals you have for your savings. We explain our process and our pay. You do not have to decide anything that day.

  2. 2

    Collecting your paperwork

We pull together statements, policies, tax returns and anything else that bears on the plan. We read every page, fee disclosures included.

  3. 3

    Comparing the paths

We set out a few options, each with its cost now and its likely cost over ten or twenty years. You choose the one that matches your goals.

  4. 4

    Setting it in motion

We take care of the forms, account transfers and policy applications, and keep you posted on what comes next.

  5. 5

    Ongoing reviews

We meet on a regular schedule to go over the portfolio and the plan, and earlier if something in your life shifts.

Questions People Ask Before They Call

What happens at the introductory meeting?
You share what you want to accomplish, what accounts and policies you hold and what keeps you up at night about money. We cover how we work and how we are paid. By the end you should know whether we are a good match, and nothing needs to be signed.
How do you get paid?
That depends on the work. A one-time plan, ongoing portfolio management and an insurance policy are each paid differently. We spell out the numbers at the first meeting and put them in writing, so you know your cost before anything starts.
Is there a minimum account size?
Bring it up when we first talk. Some clients start with us early in their careers, and others show up a few years before they stop working. What matters more is whether you want a plan and will follow it.
Will you tell me to sell what I already have?
No, not as a rule. If an account or policy does its job at a fair cost over time, our advice is to keep it. When we do recommend a change, we put the cost of switching beside the cost of leaving things alone.
Can we meet by phone or video?
Yes. We meet at our Highlands office, by phone or on video. A lot of clients come in for the first visit and do later reviews remotely.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Bring recent investment and retirement account statements, any life insurance policies and your latest tax return. Missing a few papers is fine. We can track down the rest with you.
How often will we review my plan?
Most clients sit down with us once a year or more. We also meet when life shifts, such as a new job, a birth, an inheritance or selling a business.
